If you want a luxurious place with more than the comforts of home, you will find it. If your desires are tailored more for middle class living, you will find that too. The median rent for all apartments in Houston is about $550 per month. The average cost of a Houston apartment is about $715 per month with utilities running just about $105 per month. Houston's cost of living makes this a very affordable city with living in this metro area much cheaper than nearly every other metropolitan area in America.

Houston offers a thriving economy and a vibrant cultural scene. The flat terrain is broken up with a wonderful park and eco system that spreads throughout the city proper. Houston has a world class zoo and nature center. If you're more of a sports spectator then the Houston Astros baseball team or the Houston Rockets basketball team will be right up your alley.

If your extracurricular pursuits are more artistic, well, there are enough museums and historic sites to keep you busy for years, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Cullen Sculpture Garden, Burke Baker Planetarium and the Museum of Medical Science, to name a few. The city also hosts several annual events including a rodeo, a 10 day festival and celebration in downtown that honors the cultures of the diverse population.

In addition, Houston is a shopaholics paradise, being home to many shopping areas like the Galleria. This mall comes complete with its own skating rink among other amenities.

Houston's bustling economy is bolstered by the service industry, trade sector and government. Oil products are a massive industry as well providing many of the available jobs in the area. Technology and the medical fields are also expanding daily offering new employment opportunities, such as the Lyndon Johnson Space Center and the Houston Advanced Research Center.
